Alegre is a lovely mare. At 22 years, she remains in excellent health and energy. As her farrier says, "This mare has a lot of ride left in her!" All vet care has been maintained, with additional health-enhancing nutritional and preventative care supplements - all on a routine and scheduled basis. Vet records/consult available upon request. Alegre is easily managed for vet care, farrier, trailering, bathing, hand-walking. She is a sweet horse, even "cuddly," while retaining occasional mare-style opinions - and clearly "bonds" with her person. Mostly she has been ridden out alone, but also rides out with others. In the last ten (10) years, Alegre has been handled and trained from a natural horsemanship and dressage foundation perspective. Dressage lessons have been in arena. She has been ridden in both Dressage and Western tack. Alegre does best with a confident rider who has some horsemanship/riding experience. She also clearly responds best to frequent (several days weekly) "work" - whether in saddle, ground or simple hand walks/grazing or grooming with her person. She tends to be a hyper-vigilant and "watchy" horse and thus responds well to the consistency of place and person - and the firm but patient owner. She is not a beginner's horse. This much-loved mare is being let go due to owner's advancing age and changing life circumstances. Sadly, I am unable to meet Alegre's needs for more activity, especially more frequent and in-saddle work. A good home is an absolute priority for Alegre!
