Introducing Whispering Winds Aksel! Aksel is a 2019 NFHR gra gelding that has been started slowly and correctly under saddle, with two years of handling prior that set him up for exceptional success. He has been under saddle for 1.5 years, and brought along gently as Norwegian Fjords mature more slowly. Aksel has seen hundreds of miles of Oregon wilderness, ponied and ridden, and has been hauled extensively. He carries a flag, a tarp, drags sleds or logs, can be roped off of and can be ridden at liberty in the arena. Aksel is also comfortable around drones, and you can launch and land drones horseback! This young gelding is incredibly dog friendly, and you can even play fetch horseback. He lays down on command and shows aptitude towards learning other tricks as well, reflecting a willing, eager-to-please attitude that has been carefully cultivated. Aksel crosses water, has been ponied in town, has been ground-driven extensively and could easily be introduced to a cart. Lopes off from the walk, knows his leads, side passes, forehand and haunch turns, has the western jog and english extended trot- all in the arena or on the trail. Hauled everywhere as a yearling and two year old, ponied and tied, and is experienced enough to unload, mount up and ride off anywhere. He has completed the Downunder Horsemanship groundwork and riding fundamentals programs, and has completed most of the intermediate riding program. He has been used on the ranch for checking fences, gate work and moving other horses. Aksel is a curious and happy horse, and while he is food motivated, he is not lazy, and would do well as a show horse or trail mount. He will go all day for you if you ask, and can be ridden by beginners or advanced riders alike. He is not spooky, and thinks through stressful situations when they do arise. He has excellent conformation, inheriting his athleticism from the late, great Smedsmo Graen, and his stocky traditoinal Fjordiness from his dam. Clips, bathes, self-loads, ties, hobbles, stands for the farrier (has strong bare feet), and is great for the vet. UTD on vaccinations, teeth and feet. Aksel has been a personal horse of mine since he was 9 months old, and has had a thorough and kind education because of this. He would be best suited for an intermediate rider as he is still young, and Fjords are known for a hilarious, quirky personality. He is being offered at no fault of his own, but because of my own life changes. I know every detail about this horse, and am more than happy to help his new owner learn everything about him as well.
