Ernie has been family raised to be a family horse, he’s calm and bombproof and fearless despite his young age. He has been groundworked and showmanship trained his entire life, already knows voice commands and all of his squaring up, pivoting, staying at the shoulder, trot offs and abrupt halts. He knows how to stay out of your space, and he lunges with purpose like a pro — my kids have done showmanship patterns with him and can lunge him off of voice. He was ponied on trails as a young horse, and has been trail ridden extensively now that he’s been started and he is brave brave brave - goes through brush and water and over anything. Ernie has been raised with kids and loves them, he’s gentle and tolerant and interested in people. He was in a Christmas parade as a two year old and rode behind and in front of the police cars, motorcycles, public waving things and all manner of decoration and never batted an eyelid. He’s going to make someone an incredible family horse. He confidently walk/trot/canters, is happy to jump over cross rails, trot poles and tarps and other obstacles.
His parents were both shown for years on the breed circuit with great successes, and he’s a wonderful blend of both of them. His dam showed in Open, Amateur and Youth classes and had multiple national titles, including with youth handlers/riders. She also showed USDF with open, amateur and youth riders with great success. He definitely inherited her nature.
Has been clipped since he was weeks old and now sleeps through it, he loads like a dream, has been stalled but is happiest living out with friends, he is great with other horses, he cribs around feeding time but controlled with a collar, easy keeper, stands for the farrier and vet, has been shod in the front for rocky trails, no injury history, cross and straight ties, bathes and will let you spray his face, loads and trailers like a charm. has been off property and behaves beautifully, he loves to have his neck scratched and loves people.
