Moonraker’s Gold On Buckcreek, affectionately known as River, is a lovely registered Rocky Mountain Horse. River is the perfect example of a rocky. He is a beautiful, versatile, sweet, gentle soul, sure-footed, and naturally gaited! I have done all of River’s training. He started the right way with Buck Brannaman style groundwork and colt-starting methods such as yielding hind quarters, using shoulders, working with the flag, and being soft in every part of the body on the ground. As you will see in the video, a great foundation definitely transfers over into the saddle. River has exceeded my expectations from the ground to advanced bridleless riding and trick training! He has become one of my greatest go-to horses. Whatever the situation is, from sorting cattle, trail riding, or trusting him around the kids, he is always right there when you need him. River has been to many different places with different terrain, from the hills of Eastern KY, Big South Fork TN, Colorado Mountains, and Texas! He has had tons of experience on very advanced/rugged terrain. While trail riding is great that’s not all this horse can do. River has been used to check, sort, and work cattle. He can go out on his own and get a job done without being buddy-sour or amped-up wanting to go back to the trailer. River’s calm, cool energy and personality make him great for working crazy cows and stubborn colts! He has helped me get difficult colts started by using him as my saddle horse. He gives them confidence and allows me to move the colt’s hips and shoulders around without getting pushed around on the ground! Not to mention, his buttery, smooth gait makes working on horseback all day so much better! River has taken care of all different levels of riders, but with his extensive training, I think anyone from an advanced beginner and above who knows how to apply and use the proper riding aids would be a great match. The sky is truly the limit for this horse!! He has been trained to lay down on tap cue, ground tie, side pass for mounting, self-load, good for farrier and neck reins, is easy to catch in the pasture, works off body cues, is great with other horses, has zero bad habits, good with bullwhips and he loves to jump! I have enjoyed every minute of training this wonderful horse, and I am glad I could give him the tools to be successful in his next big adventure in life! He will be a true best friend and family horse for someone fortunate!
