In 2007, he also was Reserve Champion in the Young Jumper Championships Mid-West Finals. He went on to show Grand Prix showjumping for two years before retiring to breed full time. Cognac's dam, Eclaire (aka Escarda) is a State Premium Hanoverian mare. She was USDF Region 8 Reserve Champion in Training Level Dressage. After having 5 foals, at 15 years of age, she competed in USEA eventing and took the Gold Medal in Novice. She later showed Training where she qualified for the USEA Championships.
