Jasper is a vet aged 15-16 year old, 15.1 paint gelding available due to no fault of his own. I purchased him about 6 months ago to use as a guest horse, and he has done just that. I simply don’t have the time to keep him in shape between guests. For that reason, I know he does well if he sits a few weeks between rides :) I have always gotten on after he’s had a few weeks off without lunging and the most he does is walk slightly faster. My vet did an exam after purchase and he checked out. Happy to share those records and clean front feet radiographs with anyone interested. The good: Since purchasing, Jasper has been to the mountains, to the beach, a cattle drive, and to state parks. He behaves the same everywhere. He can lead, follow, be in the back and is easy with it all out on the trail. Crosses water, bridges, logs, etc. all without issue. We move out walk, trot, and canter on the trail and he keeps his place in line without much effort. Not spooky, no buck, no rear, no bolt, no vices. In the arena, he is easy to ride, and I have even done a few cross rails for fun. He takes life in stride well. Loads well, is tied for my farrier without issue and good for the vet. Currently lives mostly out, but has stalled very well when he’s traveled on vacations. He gets along well with horses in the pasture and is overall very easy to live with. The less good: He clearly hasn’t always been treated well in life, so you do need grain to catch him. With grain, he isn’t hard to catch. To that point, if you move quickly around him, he sometimes will tense up. It is steadily improving and he does well with my small kids and their shenanigans as well. His mouth isn’t overly sensitive. This makes him perfect for the “anyone to ride type,” but is worth noting. Lastly, he has a sticky right lead. I have a few videos of him out and about as well.
