Obi Wan B’s sire, Nabab de Reve was a top young horse in Belgium and continued to a successful career with Philippe Le Jeune in Nations Cup competitions, the European Championships in 2001, and the 2002 WEG. In 2002, he was Belgian Horse of the Year. He has continued to rank in the top 20 WBFSH Show Jumping Sires for several years running. He has produced several 1.60m show jumping horses including: Exquis Walnut de Muze (Harrie Smolders), Vigo d’Arsouilles (Philippe Le Jeune), Glock’s London (Gerco Schröder), Werly Chin de Muze (Angelie von Esse, Richard Davenport), and Kashmir van Shuttershof (Philippe Le Jeune) among others. Obi’s dam Montana, was by 1996 Olympic Individual and Team Gold Medalist, Jus de Pomme. Montana has produced several top level Show Jumpers and another approved son, Cielo B. Montana has stamped her offspring with lots of scope and power. Jus de Pomme, even though his career was cut short, produced over a dozen 1.60m offspring and many more at the 1.45m+ level. His most prominent offspring include: Play On (Beezie Madden), O de Pommes (Karina Johannpeter, Stanny Van Paesschen), Harry Potter (Peter Wylde, John Pearce), Jarnac de la Bonette (David Jobertie), Jumpy des Fontaines (Harrie Smolders), and Perhaps van Molenvondel (Stefan Corten). Obi Wan earned full approval with BWP and BWP/NAD in 2019, meeting all performance, veterinary, conformation and inspection criteria. The judge commented: “Good conformation of topline and rectangular frame; good impulsion from hind quarter, jump shows a lot of scope and power in take off, and a great stallion expression.” In 2021, Obi completed the North American Stallion Sport Test, where he finished reserve champion, achieving the highest scores in both scope and overall impression. After completing the test he was approved by GOV, Westfalen and Hanoverian for North American breeders. Obi’s first offspring have inherited his gentle temperament, bone and lovely canter – offspring have received Premium scores in inspection.
