Meet Casper--the sweetest, goofiest, pickle-eating, coffee licking horse you'll ever meet. He is approx 14 years old and a little over 16hands. I was told he was a Quarter Horse/Appaloosa/Paint mix but have never had him tested. He’s built big like an Appendix Quarter horse. He is DEAF I have had him for almost 4 years and bought him to be a part of my lesson program. I discovered he was greener than I was expecting and have spent the last few years re-starting him. I moved to a ranch in August 2023 and am no longer teaching lessons. He has been exposed to cows but isn't a cow horse (yet). I have used him for riders of all ages, however he needs an intermediate/advanced rider to finish him. Until August, he was ridden 4-5 days a week by various riders of different skill levels. He ties, trailers, bathes, stands for the farrier, trail rides, crosses water, plays well with others, lunges and roundness, has started to learn how to open gates, and so much more. He's been primarily ridden western but we have put several rides on him in an english saddle--it makes no difference for him. Due to his deafness he has a few quirks that make me list him as a project horse. He would be a great lesson horse or horse for a first timer in training, or for an experienced rider looking for a fun quirky new buddy. The quirks--due to his deafness I have noticed that when riding with other people or on trail, if there is something or someone coming up behind him, he can spook. We have figured out that if we hear what's coming, turn his head in that direction so he can see it, he's totally fine! Additionally, he has some mild arthritic changes in his hocks. We treated this with some hock injections and equioxx for the last 3.5 years and it has completely changed his life. Really wanting to find a great forever home for Casper!
