Waylon is a 12 year old cross gelding that stands 14.2HH. This beautiful buckskin is bound to be someone’s next heart horse! He is the total package and his looks and beautiful dapples are an added bonus! From the arena to the trails and everywhere in between, Waylon has been exposed to all the things. I purchased him with a solid cow-horse foundation and made it a challenge to teach him 30 new things, in 30 days! With his great demeanor, confidence and willingness to learn Waylon breezed through those 30 things and made it so fun! From working cattle, to teaching tricks, to jumping over cross fences and logs, Waylon loved and adapted to every new thing! He is a very fast and confident learner! The possibilities are endless with this beautiful boy and his future is bright! For a new to the well seasoned trail rider, Waylon is a great partner for any adventure! He reminds me of a good hound dog! He follows the trails, and goes through any type of terrain, water or obstacle that is within his path. He is as sure-footed as one can be with big feet and thick bone. Waylon is barefoot and does not struggle crossing any type of terrain. Regularly riding in the national forest and local trails, Waylon has been exposed to numerous types of wildlife, hikers, and machinery. We have also hauled Waylon to numerous open arenas and ropings. You can even pony him from your lawn mower, buggy or vehicle! He will confidently ride out by himself or in a group and does not get buddy or barn sour! Buttons, Buttons, Buttons! That’s the only way to explain this guy in the arena! Waylon spent some time under a trainer with a solid cow-horse background so being soft and reactive is a staple in his guys tool box! He spins, slides into his stops, side passes and counter arcs. He is adorable under english tack as well and loves to jump over some small cross rails! Waylon was mainly ridden in a snaffle before coming to us and prefers to be ridden with contact in the canter. He does have a larger stride in his canter, so he is not one I would recommend for someone wanting a western pleasure peanut roll. He does have a lead change both directions, but I would recommend some polishing before entering the shows! Even though he does prefer contact in the arena, out on the trails you can ride this guy on a mile long drooped rein. You can ride this guy through the obstacles bridle-less, and enjoy him once a month or on a daily basis. Waylon does not have any buck, bite, bolt or rear and has always been a favorite to ride for me. In the arena he will have some speed, but on the trails, obstacles and around the barn he is defiantly more woah than go! One of my favorite things about him is he will stand at the mounting block like a statue and will stand wherever you’d like for hours at a time! Waylon is an absolute gentleman around the barn! He clips, loads, stands for the farrier and is a great patient for the vet!
