Sunflower is an energetic 27-year-old miniature/ Shetland horse. She races around her pen rearing and pawing at the gate to get out when her filly, Sweetpea, is led out to pasture before her. The two are to go to a new home together and stay together. Shetlands are able to live for 40 years, if cared for. These two are affectionate( ie tame) to those people they bond with. Both need an experienced knowledgeable handler that can retrain them to be safe and perhaps riden again by children, as they were 10 years ago. They could also be 4-H projects for experienced firm young people who want to practice training horses. Once Sunflower bonds to her handler, as part of the "herd", she will not try to kick to defend her filly. She unfortunately has developed bad habits towards strangers. Originally Sunflower was able to load and be brought to preschool birthday parties for the children to ride. Perhaps as she ages and thus becomes less energetic, she may be able to be retrained to again have children ride her. Sweetpea is much more mellow than Sunny. They both were foaled on our property and were carried in our arms for weeks, and even into the house. Thus, they imprinted towards our family as part of their herd. Sunflower , with her excellent bloodlines, perhaps could be shown as her Champion sire was. No promises though. These two cute pets are sold as is, and at least they are earth friendly lawn mowers. We will miss them dearly and their greeting us with a neigh each time we return home.Since we are older, we are downsizing.
