My boys do not get along, and we have a two-horse limit for our property, so Gabe must find a new home. $800 takes him, providing home is approved, but we are negotiable to the right home. Or I may trade him for a horse sized farm/work harness with 21" full face collar and hames of the appropriate size. Or 6' corral panels if you're especially local. Dreamhorse is extremely limited in space, so I have him crossposted on our local Craigslist. https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/grd/d/silverlake-saddlebred-cross-gelding/7774903223.html Please read it thoroughly. Hopefully people can refrain from flagging the ad again. Currently, he is retired, but with a refresher and intensive ulcer treatment and chiropractic work, he has many years left to give, barring freak accidents or illnesses. Gabe came to us with a sweet TB mare, both free, back in March of 2018 after smooching his way into our hearts on a farm we were buying a load of hay from. He loves giving sloppy face kisses. Gabe was intended to be my first official endurance horse due to his breed, which the people said was Saddlebred; however, he came with unexpected baggage that built on itself after a few months of riding. (What do you expect from a free horse?) He shows just about every clinical sign of nasty ulcers; cinchy, sensitive around his girth in general, anxious when ridden, and finally, he threw his first bucking fit about five or so months after I started riding him. The only thing that never wavered was his voracious appetite. He loves food lol I did keep riding him for about a year more, but then turned to my now late Thoroughbred mare who was infinitely less dramatic to tack up and take off, and ended up being my trusty mount on our first 25 mile endurance ride. Gabe was also shown to be very much out in about every way when we managed to get a chiropractor in to adjust our horses for the first time back in October 2021. After that adjustment, I was able to ride him bareback for the first time ever, and as long as I didn’t use my leg aides, he didn’t buck once, but was still quite nervous. Before he started bucking, Gabe was a smooth ride who would go until he dropped if you asked. I wouldn’t trust anyone but myself to ride him, though, because he was always very up and high strung, and extremely sensitive. He carried me twenty miles a day for three days (10 miles morning and evening, I was so soooore and I'm sure he was aching, too lol) straight up and down steep hills while I was feeding and milking for friends at the top of said hills, and never said no. Just broke an apple tree branch because he doesn’t stand tied well at all and wanted to be with me. Had to go around with him attached to my hip while milking a goat.
