Truckee is a 15 year old Walkaloosa. He is gaited, but tends to be on the pacey side, however, with appropriate contact and collection, gaits very well. On the trail he is very sure footed and steady. He stays aware of his surroundings, but isn't watchy. We have found over the past three years that we've owned him, if he gets "worried" or spooks, it's because there is something there that we don’t see. If he does spook, it's always been in place. He has never offered to bolt, buck or rear. I was told when I bought him he wasn't good in large groups - I have never tested that theory and the largest group I've ridden in has been 4 horses, and he was fine. He is an exceptionally easy keeper - tends to put on weight easily. His biggest fault on the trail is that he likes to be the lead horse. He does fine with non-gaited horses as his walk, while brisk, isn't too fast. He is very personable and likes attention. It's a difficult decision to sell him, but I bought him as a riding partner for my husband and my Appy/Paso Fino cross. Unfortunately, my Appy/Paso cross had to be put down, and Truckee just doesn't work well with our other horse. He is UTD on vetting. Is shod on all 4 feet. Stands well for the farrier and hops in the trailer.
