“Steel in Storm DCW” is a gorgeous red roan, registered Tennessee Walking Horse gelding. He is 5 years old and stands 15.2 hands tall with beautiful conformation. His barn name is Reno, and is a super special guy! We have owned Reno for about a year now, and he's a family favorite around here! Reno has the very sweetest personality and disposition. He is a very loving and kind horse. Reno truly loves people and attention. He's completely safe on the ground and respects your space, but loves to be near you. Reno also has a completely natural, super smooth gait that requires no special bit or shoeing to achieve this gait. He rides with a small Tom-thumb bit and is an easy, simple horse to ride! Reno is not a horse that you have to kick multiple times to make him go. He has enough motor to pick up and ride, but also the right mindset to slow down and walk along when you ask him to. Reno is an exceptional trail horse! He has been trail-ridden many, many miles over all types of terrain. From the sandy trails to the rugged rocky trails, Reno handles it all like a professional. Whether it's up or down steep hills, through deep mud, over logs, or through deep waters- Reno is experienced and safe! He is surefooted and sound on the trail and always willing to go wherever you ask him to. We have hauled Reno all over and have taken him camping in many places as well. He is a dream trail riding partner. Reno has been taken to local horse shows, and he always does well! His natural gait and headset are always an eye-catcher. He has been ridden by children and adults alike and is truly an all-around horse for almost anyone to ride. Reno is also a great driving horse. He hooks up with no problems and has been driven many miles. We’ve even used Reno around the ranch to check fences, move/push cattle, and even catch and sort them. He does not balk at whatever new job you ask him to do. He is familiar with wildlife such as deer and turkey and has been hunted off of multiple times. He has been used to squirrel and coon hunt with. Reno has helped lead dogs and has been shot off of numerous times. In addition to being great with the guns, he is also great with tarps and whips. He does not mind the commotion at all. Reno is also easy to catch, (again, he loves people!) he is clean and quiet in the stall and gets along well with other horses (plus the dogs, cats, and goats). He is also patient in the cross ties, stands for the farrier, and loves a bath. Reno loads and hauls perfectly and is quite the gentleman all the way around. We have truly enjoyed our time with Reno. He has been a family horse for us! From our 6-year-old little girl, our teen boys to both my husband and I, we love riding and spending time with Reno.
