Whiz is a remarkable 6-year-old mare out of Smokin Whiz, one of the most notable sons of Topsail Whiz. With a pedigree that speaks volumes and looks to match, she is a head turner wherever you go. She is a very quiet mare with a great temperament. No buck, kick, or rear, and would be suitable for almost any level of rider. She is not in a hurry to go anywhere and enjoys the company of people.
I bought Whiz as a 2 year old from the University of River Falls colt sale in Wisconsin. She has always been a good minded horse that is not scared of anything. I have swung a rope off her, sorted cattle, set off fireworks around her, and much more.
I rode her for a couple of years after I got her and then decided I was going to sell her due to moving away from home. During a pre-purchase exam, it was found that she had juvenile arthritis. She has never taken a lame step in her life, and we were completely unaware she had this until the x-rays, but because of this, I decided to give her a year off with hopes that she would fuse and be cleared.
I gave her a year off, where I bred her to WIMPYNEEDSACOCKTAIL who stands at Silver Spurs in Oklahoma and got a very nice sorrel colt out of her last summer.
I got her X-Rayed again on 4/25/2024, and although she has made significant progress, there is still some room in the joint on her back left hock. She still has no soreness or lameness, but because it still exist, someone is going to get a heck of a deal on this nice little mare. It is not needed at this time, but in the event that she started getting sore she would need to be injected in her hocks.
I would love to see her go to an up and coming rider that is looking for a step up horse, or someone that just wants a nice horse to ride. She will also make an exceptional brood mare now, or when you are done riding her.
