Gunner is a black/seal bay 11yr, 15hh Quarter Horse Hanoverian cross. I purchased him in March 2022 to teach riding lessons. The woman I purchased him from claimed that he needed an intermediate rider. She had purchased him about a year earlier from Katy Cleary as a beginner trail riding horse. I will admit that out on trails if going solo Gunner should definitely have an intermediate to advanced rider. Gunner did absolutely fantastic the first 2 to 3 months of me owning him. I used him in western riding lessons with an advanced beginner rider as well with my intermediate hunter jumper rider. After about three months owning Gunner, he came up lame. After multiple tests and x-rays it turns out that Gunner has somewhat significant arthritis in both hocks. After finding this out, I retired Gunner from jumping and finished the lesson season teaching my western lessons. Since then I have had Gunners hocks injected, and have been using him as a trail horse and to teach my four-year-old daughter how to ride. He is definitely moving better after having his hocks injected. Prior to having them injected Gunner did not want to trot he would prefer to walk, or canter. I would recommend an intermediate to advanced rider for Gunner. Although Gunner does great with beginners and my four year old in the arena, or with a group of trail horse. He does not like leaving the arena or going out to trail alone. Gunner does better being ridden regularly and having a routine, he has never reared or bucked, but will spin and do reining horse type moves to avoid having to go out on trail by himself. I have always been able to work through it with him and push him forward. We have successfully gone out on the trail alone more than a couple handfuls of times. Although every time he put up a fight, but does absolutely fine in a group. Gunner is current on all of his vaccinations, worming’s, and Coggins. The farrier will be out to trim him in the beginning of June. He is a sweet, healthy boy, and an easy keeper. He is currently on rough board, and I only give him grain through the winter. His Western tack set can go with him for a total of $2600 which includes his saddle, pad, breast collar, headstall, front and back cinch! Please feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call for any questions or to set up a time to meet him! https://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-1538741 Thanks, Katy
