Miss Holly is a stunning dark sorrel mare with the dantiest head! She just turned 16, so is the perfect age for someone that is ready to ride and enjoy their horse. I can’t say enough good about this horse! Let me tell you all about her, then I will explain why she isn’t working for what I need. She will only go to what I feel is the absolute best home for her. Holly knows so so so much! She has a lovely little western pleasure jog, she can extend that jog, and she has the most perfect slow lope! She is the first horse I have felt comfortable enough to lope, in over fifteen years! She will go into her lope from a walk or a trot…it is amazing! She rides in any bridle I’ve put on her (except she didn’t care for the bitless bridle that crosses under the chin). Even a halter is good 🙂 Looking for a horse that can neck rein? Yup! Holly does that! You can neck or direct rein. She is a pro at side passing both directions, backs, and stops on a dime when you tell her to “whoa”. Holly will drag objects behind her, you can remove items off of something near you, walks through curtains of noodles, vines, etc. She walks through water, uphill and downhill nicely, over bridges and over tires. Another thing Holly will do is open and close gates. Alright, so now the reasons I can’t keep her…I love this little mare and wanted to be her forever home! She has been tossed around too much in her short life, so this has been a long difficult decision. She isn’t happy with her life with me, so this is best for her and I. Holly’s biggest issue is that she does’t like to be alone, I mean really…who does? She’s fine to ride alone at the barn, it’s when we go somewhere. I like to compete in trail trial competitions and arena classes…Holly does not. She does enjoy the obstacles, but the problem is that she doesn’t like to wait while her “buddy” at the time takes his/her turn. On the flip side, she doesn’t like to do the obstacle first because she doesn’t want to leave her buddy. Holly is also not a fan of trailering. She will, she just isn’t fond of it. I like to go to competitions, clinics, horse camping, and riding with friends every weekend. After this last weekend I had to ask myself…why do I keep making her fit into my lifestyle and not find her a home that fits hers? There are so many horseback riders that love to just jump on and ride around the block, ride in their neighborhood, local trails, etc. Many owners don’t have trailers nor like to go places all the time. If that is you…this horse is your next best friend!!! Holly is registered with the American Quarter Horse Association. She has stunning lines…Colnel Freckles, Nu Cash, Cal Booger Bar, Doc O’Lena, and Peppy San Badger. Up to date on vaccines, deworming, teeth, and feet. Wears front shoe. I am asking Eighty Five Hundred, but that is negotiable to the right home, which is more important!
