Meet Roman! He is a gorgeous 12-year-old 16.2 hh Clydesdale cross who drives and rides. Gentle on the ground and under saddle, this willing gelding will take you anywhere you point him! With his extensive trail experience, Roman effortlessly navigates steep inclines and declines, traverses rivers and lakes, pushes through dense foliage, and crosses bridges without hesitation. There's yet to be a trail obstacle that causes Roman to waver. With his very hard hooves, he easily plows through any terrain without ever showing any signs of sensitivity and is kept barefoot. Roman consistently takes the lead, eagerly guiding the way on trails that span diverse landscapes from deserts to mountains, and braving all weather conditions. He is a very confident horse on the trail, and despite his size, often navigates technical areas with more ease and surefootedness than smaller horses. Roman is extremely well behaved around other horses, showing remarkable tolerance even when playfully provoked, bumped into, etc. Roman responds to neck pressure along with leg pressure but probably needs some more refinement to be considered fully neck reined (he’s very close!). He is currently ridden in a snaffle and is very soft in the mouth, and responds very easily to leg pressure. Turning heads wherever he goes, he remains unfazed by wildlife, traffic, cows, or dogs, showcasing his overall even temperament. He easily loads into the trailer, very calmly backs out when asked, and stays quiet on the road. Grooming Roman is a breeze; he readily lifts his feet and stands patiently for the farrier. He is an easy keeper, always kept out on pasture or dry lot, and the dominant gelding in the herd. He has the stamina for daily rides but also behaves the same after a month off. He has never offered a buck, spook, or rear. He stands still for vaccinations, but will not stand for oral dewormer lol… if you put it in his grain he is happy to oblige. Groundwork with Roman is very smooth, and he responds to a very soft “feel”. Very versatile horse, he could go many different directions and be used for many disciplines. He is very fun to ride and is eager to hit the trails. Roman was trained and used under cart with a previous owner (video available in link below) but has not had any driving experience in the last 4 years, so would need a refresher. Roman is up-to-date on all vaccinations, dental was last done summer of 2022, no medical issues or past injuries.
