If you look up the term gentle giant, you will find a picture of Hudson! This sweet boy is an absolute pleasure to be around and is the biggest love bug in our barn. Hudson stands 16.2 hands tall and is a 5-year-old Percheron gelding. This gentle guy will gladly stroll through the farm and trails, easily navigating through water, over logs, and any other obstacle in your path. Hudson can pack any size or level of rider, from beginners to experienced horsemen. But we truly believe he loves his kid riders the most, with his easy, calm temperament and careful demeanor to watch out for the child on his back. He also enjoys his adult riders and has a willing-to-please attitude. Hudson is 100% traffic-safe and sound, having been ridden through town and on busy roads. He is seasoned toward tarps, whips, flags, etc. We have even used Hudson to check fences and cows and chase down Fred, our potbelly pig. Hudson loads and hauls in trailers so well that you won’t know he’s back there! He stands tied patiently to a post or in cross-ties. He will walk, trot, and canter beautifully under saddle. With a big guy like Hudson, you will feel like you are loping into battle! Hudson is also broke to drive, single or double. He has experience pulling carriages, pulling a one-seater buggy, and all farm equipment. In our local Christmas parade this past winter, Hudson even got the honor of pulling Santa Claus in a carriage through town!
