Looking to sell or trade my 4 yr old Western Pleasure bred gelding Always Lopin, aka Kobe. I have owned Kobe for a year now and while I love everything about him, he came to me with weaving and cribbing and this has been my first experience owning a horse with these stereotypies. He has done better here as he has been out on pasture with my other horses and does great out there. But he is very routine oriented, and I am not. If I change his routine and pull him in to haul him somewhere (we trail ride away from home) he gets very nervous. (He's not a hot horse, slow w/t/l, but he gets insecure) I feel like when he gets that way, he loses his ground manners and doesn't focus on me and that's beyond my toolbox. In an effort to learn how to understand him and handle him in these situations, I put him in training last month with Meredith Zajac in Cody, WY and she has been phenomenal with him. She has him riding very well with great ground manners, but she also is consistent with him. Sadly, it has helped me realize that Kobe isn't the best match for me. He needs a home with consistency. I also don't show and therefore don't use him to his full potential. But I loved his conformation, beautiful eyes and head, smooth gaits, and laid-back friendly demeanor (he is the first to meet you at the gate, has not been phased by anything here- dirt bikes, RC cars, goats, cows, gunshots, etc.) I have only trail rode him and he does great on the trail. I have never put shoes on him, and he's done fine barefoot. Always gets regular trims. Is sound. I am trying to be as transparent as I can because I want Kobe to find the right landing spot. With the right person, this horse can do well. Like I said, he checked all the boxes for me. But I have 2 kids in travel sports, showing cattle, and racing dirt bikes. My personal time for horses is limited. With that said, I am open to trading Kobe for a horse that will do well trail riding a few times a month, yet still has a seasoned w/t/l, flexes, ground manners, etc. Maybe something getting ready for a semi-retirement home. Please no stereotypies. Sound with good feet. Papers not necessary. Some of the best horses I have ridden have been grade. I am also open to selling him outright. I have about $8k into him. But I didn't know about his weaving and not ever owning a horse with that, I never thought to ask about it. I'm more interested at finding him the right person at this point. If you're interested, shoot me an offer. Lets chat.
