13 year old grade gelding. I purchased Smokey in January, 2024 as a trail horse. We had a few good rides and then started having some issues which included him bucking. Buried in the PPE report I discovered that he has mild navicular. I had my vet and farrier assess him and put pads on his front. He again was great for a few rides, then bucking started again. My trainer and I thought maybe he needed a chiropractic evaluation so we had the chiropractor out. The chiropractor made some adjustments and he was doing great on rides until the end of May when he bucked again. Smokey has amazing ground manners and I feel his behavioral issues are more pain-response related. I decided he is better suited to be a companion horse. He has the sweetest temperament and follows you around like a puppy. Having been bucked off 3 times now, I really can only endorse him as a companion horse. I will only sell him to a loving, compassionate home.
