This sweet, friendly buckskin colt is the first foal out of High Flyin Special Effex aka "Roo." We call this colt and his half sister our "latchkey kids." Their dams were raised in love and safety, so they don't always realize that they need to watch out for their kids, and as a result, he and his bay half sister get more freedom to roam than most foals get. You will often find them off on an adventure together, far from their mothers. They have more confidence than most foals have at a very early age. Their fearless, fun antics are a joy to watch. They love exploring, jumping logs, and generally being little "war horses." They are the type that will make outstanding field trial, reenactment, or trail mounts. Roo was bred by David and Beth Lamb. When she was a baby she had such long legs that she looked like a little kangaroo when she was lying down, hence the nickname "Roo." Roo's dam was David and Beth's good plantation pleasure show mare, Special Effects Direct, a daughter of Ebony's Director by Ebony Masterpiece. Her dam was by a son of Pride of Midnight H.F. Special Effects Direct only produced two fillies before she passed in 2018, one of which is the very talented show mare, Special Effects Reveal ("Iris"). I've ALWAYS wanted to own an Allen All Around baby. Ever since I first saw him walking and shaking his way around the arena at the Virginia Horse Center, he's been a favorite of mine. He has the most dramatic and true transition from a flatwalk to a running walk out there. I can almost guarantee that every one of my favorite moving horses at any NC show is a direct AAA baby. This colt is the product of three of our most beloved horses (Golden Gambler, Pippi White Stockings, and The Tennessee Stud WF ) Her sire, The Tennessee Stud WF, was carefully bred and raised here at Westwood Farms. The Tennessee Stud aka "G2" is exactly what we've been breeding for. He has a wonderful disposition: kind, friendly and respectful. From birth, he demonstrated a keen intelligence and strong desire to please that I love so much about his sire. He also has the larger bone structure that I love about his dam. G2 has a true running walk with a great backend. He will walk and shake at both the flatwalk and running walk or you can tighten him up and do a smooth, sailing saddle gait with considerable speed. He does these gaits naturally. He also has a beautiful canter. He truly represents the versatility that the original walking horse was bred for. He would be competitive in shows and still be a comfortable, smooth and sane mount for trails or field trials. G2's sire is Golden Gambler, one of the best horses I've ever had the pleasure to ride. Gambler's bloodlines are a unique blend of the western working bloodlines through his sire, Blue Gold (who goes back to Roy Roger's own "Trigger Jr." aka Allen's Gold Zephyr), and the old eastern show lines through his dam, Cindy's Image-GH. Image was known for her true walking horse gaits and lovely disposition.
