I have owned Tex since he was 2 years old. In that time, he has won me lots of money, saddles and buckles barrel racing. He was barrel raced lightly last year and not at all this year. I planned to just occasionally trail ride him and semi-retire him, but he is bored standing out in the pasture with only a couple rides here and there. I would love to find him the perfect person to be his new partner. I would classify Tex as appropriate for intermediate rider as he is very responsive and still very fast and powerful. Having said that, he is the same horse rather he is being ridden daily or twice a year. No funny business or bucking. He has been in parades, rodeos, through town, trail riding and been hauled and stalled extensively. He is very broke and responsive to cues. Bathes, fly sprays, clips, bridles, hauls as he should. Very respectful of fencing. I don't have to sell Tex and will be EXTREMELY picky to where he goes. I am not interested in selling him as a barrel horse. He is tired of doing it and if I wanted to make him, I would still be racing him. 4-H or trail riding would be fine. Tex is 6 panel Negative but does have one copy of PSSM 2 and does not do well on alfalfa. Pasture or grass hay is fine. If you cannot feed him grass hay, he isn't for you. He has never tied up or been unsound to ride and is an easy keeper (currently a little fat). Curent diet is grass hay and a simple mineral mix. I have an arena and trails for someone to come take a spin on him. He just got new shoes on and is ready to go. I am more than happy to take Tex back when it is time for him to fully retire. He is current on worming and vaccines. Last dental was done in 2023. I also have a beautiful custom Holstine saddle that was built just for Tex that I would love to go with him and would make a good deal on.
