This smart, playful, trail-loving companion is looking for his forever partner to go on adventures with! Please read all of the below - most questions are answered - then text me if interested 🙏 This boy is a DREAM to ride. His trot feels like you’re floating on a cloud. He’ll go anywhere too…trailered 100+ times to beaches, trails, neighborhoods, mountains. Super brave!
Mostly ridden western, but is so versatile and willing…low level dressage or working equitation prospect. Enjoys working cows, has jumped…while it’s not his favorite he’ll pop over low ones and always try his best for you. Neck reins, direct reins, collects up beautifully, moves out easily. Great bit less and bareback. Super smart! Natural horsemanship trained, responds well to positive reinforcement. Played around with liberty and he loves it! Exceptionally quick learner who is always looking for what you want. Full of try. Very easy keeper…maintains muscle on grass hay and a little alfalfa. Barefoot last 5 years. Beautiful hooves. As surefooted as they come. Great for farrier. Sound and agile. Passed a PPE in Feb 2024 with full x-rays on file (showing slight beginning stage arthritis in left hock, vet said a level 2 on scale 1-10 and was “as close to perfect as you’ll get for a 10 yo horse”. No injections needed). FULL of personality. He sticks his tongue out for treats, will run back and forth down the fence line with you following you everywhere, he even plays fetch with sticks lol His “quirks”… While he does great in turnout with others and loves to play with his herd mates… He can get a little territorial over her personal smaller corral and hay. In a pasture he’ll share hay, graze nose to nose etc, but in his corral he claims his space. Unfortunately this is not a match for my super submissive senior arthritic gelding I bought him to live with😭 While he is easy and kid safe to ride (my 8 year old walks and trots him around - he’s so patient)…
Zion would do best with an experienced horse owner. He’s well-trained & behaved, but can be sensitive on the ground, with things like fly spray, a little tense with grooming etc. Once he trusts you, he relaxes and will stand for you and follow you anywhere.
While he’s perfect under saddle after weeks off without a lunge… He’s not a pasture puff and gets bored. He’d do best in a home that can get him activity and mental stimulation and love. He’s too smart and athletic to just sit in a corral and be an “every now and then” horse. He is true heart horse material and will thrive in a home with more individual attention and activity than I can give him.
