Precious has not always had an easy life. I have only had her for a short time and when I bought her she was underweight and had rub marks/sores on her face and hips. The place she was at was not giving her the room she needed to move or be a horse either. I was informed she had been started under saddle, and was shown a video of this, however she showed signs of having holes in her training. She was nervous around people, did not like to be touched, and did not like to be caught. I was told they had her six months and her feet had not been done as she was too nervous to get them done. She has been with me about two weeks and is an absolute sweetheart. She is putting on weight nicely, though she still needs a little more. As such we have not put a saddle back on her but it shouldn't be long for that. Precious has an obvious dish and a tail carriage that says Arabian strong enough I think she might be purebred. The people I purchased her from did not state she was but the dished face is obvious as well as the typical tail carriage and a good Arabian temperament. I have submitted the necessary paperwork and DNA to the Arabian Horse Association to see if she was ever registered and those results are pending. If she has been registered it would be a possibility to get them either signed over by last registered owner or through legal means. She is now easy to catch. Gets along well with other horses. Loves attention and being told she is pretty. Still getting used to fly spray but has allowed me to worm her. She is standing for her front feet to be handled and is starting to pick up her back feet with no threats of kicking. I expect her feet to be trimmed by the farrier next week when he is out to my place. She leads and ties with no issues. She does lunge and we are working on her understanding of the cues so she picks them up better. Getting used to ropes swinging around her and being introduced to the tarp and traffic cones. She is being reintroduced to bathing, as she seems to have experienced it before. She handles each new thing with a good and sensible temperament. The huge change in her behavior in two weeks speaks for itself on her temperament, and really I think someone loved her well at some point in her life. Precious is being re introduced to under saddle work to fill in the holes she has in her training. She has had a rider on her before but I think she'll be happier and more enjoyable with the restart. She is picking everything up quickly and already yields her hindquarters and shoulders, lunges, and backs. She also has accepted the saddle blanket in one short session. With her pretty movement and good temperament I could see precious being a really nice amature or youth horse with some more training. I think she has potential in endurance, 4H, gymkhana and speed events, working equitation, and open classes for western or sport horse events. Her training will continue.
