This gentle, quiet, smart Gypsy Vanner gelding “Bluey” has potential to be an all around gelding for your family or lesson programs. He has a solid gentle start of 120 days and is the most willing horse I have ever spent time with. Gentle and quiet to groom, meets you at the gate for attention and loads and travels like an expert show horse. Bluey has proven to have a quiet demeanor typical of the Gypsy breed and is eager to keep adding to his resume. Bluey has been willing to move through obstacle courses without hesitation or spook. His arena work has included walk-trot-halt transitions and the occasional short lope. Bluey has excellent manners on the ground and in the saddle and has proven himself to be a dependable mount. Bluey’s grulla coat is stunning! Much like an Akhal Teke’s metallic sheen changes depending on sunlight, Bluey’s coat hues range from a dark and deep honey to a cool and smoky silver depending on season and sunlight. Bluey, despite his young age, has already demonstrated he is on a path to be your ‘tried and true’ mount. Even at such a young age at 3 years old, he carries complete beginners with grace and care – forgiving unintended hand and leg cues – as well as experienced riders who ask more as they finetune his neck rein, transitions, etc. Bluey loves being groomed and will stand at the wash rack patiently. He can be cross-tied or not, your choice; he’s not fussy. His feathers are his great pride, and he gets a blowout with a leaf blower after grooming. He is calm and collected – and even the leaf blower on Max doesn’t phase him. He has been around farm equipment, dogs, cats, donkeys, longhorns, chickens, and little kiddos – same reaction to all – looks to acknowledge, and if it doesn’t involve human pets or a treat, then keeps on grazing. He is a gem, and I can’t wait to see all the places he will go! If you have any questions before making Bluey part of your Family, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Nori.
