BIG, Andalusian cross mare (grade) looking for a new place to call home. *11-13 years old *About 16.2 hh and nice big bones. Takes my 240 lbs without issue. *Big, fast walk, definitely a forward mover and I would say she needs at least an intermediate rider. *EASY KEEPER. Does well on pasture. *Great, BIG hard feet. Have had her shod for trail riding but she wouldn’t need shoes for much else. *up to date on vaccines, had a coggins test before I bought her in March. *up to date on teeth (done a couple months ago) *I had a PPE done before I bought her, and buyer would be welcome to review that or have their own PPE done at their expense. *Doesn’t kick, or bite, and she’s used to dogs running all around and under her. *lunges on a lead at w/t/c, also without a lead in the round pen. I *respects electric tape *not fancy trained, but will move off leg or rein. Has a good stop. *trailers well once she’s in, but sometimes shows reluctance getting in. I usually just have someone step up behind and clap and she gets in. *ridden on trails down at Cuneo Creek, in my round pen, and about the farm and she did great. I took her to a big group ride and campout (50+ horses around), and she did great being around camp, did not get all worked up or anything. But on the morning of the ride she threw me twice, which was a surprise because she’d never bucked or anything before. I think the excitement got to her. *She does have some spook sometimes, and on the trail does best as the second horse. I think she’ll do well as a lead horse with more experience. She needs more work on crossing streams (reluctant, and then jumps them like a deer). * I don’t think she was treated well before I got her, she can be flinchy with fast movements. I think she really needs to work with someone consistently and regularly who she can learn to trust. She is not an “in your pocket” kind of horse. She might follow you around the pasture, but she might just go off and do her thing, too. (One really cool thing is that she poops in the same location all the time, makes a nice pile that is easy to scoop up. ) Parting ways with her because we just aren’t clicking. I like a horse I can really bond with and who wants to spend time with me. She would do better with someone who isn’t looking for that “in your pocket” experience, or for someone who has a lot of time to spend with her. I’m looking for a good home for this gal, I want her to go to someone who’s going to spend time with her, treat her well, and get to know her, so not looking for a fast sale. I might be able to help with transport in exchange for gas. Located near Eureka, CA.
