This sweet mare is as easy to look at as she is to have in the barn. She loves people, comes to you in pasture with a whistle or calling her by name. She is not a typical "hot" Paso Fino, this mare is not spooky or silly in any way. Respectful going through gates and such, stands for her halter to be put on and leads properly, She is lively and forward, but not the kind to pull on you. Ellie is a trail horse, with a comfortable little gait she can do all day, but she walks the trails if that is all you want to do. She even has a cute little canter, though I don't ride a canter much these days! Stands well at the mounting block and does not try to rush off. Prefers to ride with company. She will lead or follow, and as a bonus, if she gets out ahead of your Quarter Horse riding friends, she will stop if asked and wait on them. But equally as happy to putter along behind. Ellie crosses creeks, steps over logs, and is not bothered by close quarters in brush or with tall weeds or crops. She is calm around dogs, farm equipment, and traffic. Ellie is great for the farrier and vet, loads easily in a trailer, doesn't mind fly spray or baths, and will stand for ages in cross-ties for grooming. Happy in a stall or on pasture, gets fat on air so we do limit pasture time! Kept barefoot and not tender footed. She will ride with or without a bit. I have had Ellie for well over a year, and usually ride her about once a week, so the video shows what she is like with that amount of riding, along with first bath of the year, first trailer loading in over a year. She is a nice, willing mare, and mature enough without having any senior needs. Paso Finos tend to be long-lived and I expect Ellie to have many good years ahead. I am 65 and downsizing, or she would stay here.
