Located in athol Who wants there very own Hippo? Honey is a 9 year old fjord gypsy cross GRADE mare. Standing approximately 14.3. I have never measured her. Lets start with all the bads: HARD HARD HARD on fencing Very marish with other horses, i recommend her own pen. She will just bite them and squeel, sometimes turns her butt and threatens a kick. She intentionally chases my old man constantly. I am done with her doing that. However, she is fine on the trail. No red tail ribbon needed. Sometimes shell reach for a rear end, but a gentle check to your reins stops that idea. Paws to china if left unsupervised by herself. She will stand tied all day. No pulling back. Better put down stall matts or have concrete if you leave her alone. Tail swisher when annoyed. Sensitive feet on rough ground. Will eat you out of house and home. Rationed meals and a diet cutback are highly recomended. Lock your gates. She is one of those horses that messes with everything and WILL untie anything The goods: Sweetest most friendly and gentle pocket pony tward all humans. Trail broke, has packed beginers with supervision. This being said: NOT NESSASARILY A BEGINERS HORSE, she is a bog girl and deserves a rider with soft hands thats not going to abuse her. She was ridden 1 or 2x a week all summer last year. This year shes seen maybe 3 or 4 trail rides. Picked up right where she left off. Always the same horse. More whoa then go. Top speed? Estimated 12 mph. WTC when asks. Lots of asking for a lope sometimes. All gates are SMOOTH. Very good stop on this lazy girl. Rides in a snaffle, or just a halter. Has been ridden english, western and bareback. Saddles and bridles good. Rides with a loose reign, your usually just along for the ride with occasional directional suggestions. Never been out by herself in the 2 years ive had her. Im sure she would be fine as long as she had a confident rider. Rides front or back no problem, usually back because of her pokey pace. Honey catches you. Every time. Good luck trying to do anything in the pen without a hippo blocking your path No buck or rear. Has attempted to throw her head around when frisky, but due to a hippos nature, could not achieve lift off Polite taking treats. Great for the ferrier, worming, vet. Etc. Never had shoes, her feet stay in good shape, rocky ground is not her favorite, she gets ouchy EASY keeper. Blankets fine. Not much spooks this girl. She is pretty darn solid. Walks over tarps, plastic truck bed liners, crunchy water bottles, ( beers being cracked on her back) you can swing onto her bareback 2x as round as she is tall. Youd better have flexible hips, or investin a side saddle. Always has a lovely low head set. She cant turn into a giraffe for worming even if she wanted to. Jumps in the trailer without fuss. This great little mare will follow her human practically anywhere. Vet checks welcome at buyers expense.
