Marigold is a super sweet mare. She LOVES attention and always wants to be involved in whatever you are doing. Her current owner bought her a little over a year ago with the plan for her to eventually take the place of her older mare. She had been started under saddle but they chose to let her grow for another year before pushing her. Now life has gotten in the way and her owner is moving to town. She can't board two so she is keeping her older more experienced horse and Marigold is looking for a new home. Her current owner wanted to set Marigold up for the best possible future so I have had her in training since the last week of July. She was easy to get going under saddle again. There were a few crow hops when we first started cantering but after talking with her owner I don't think her previous training had included cantering under saddle at all. She will walk, trot, canter both ways and has a good whoa. She currently direct reins. She had been ridden by kids as young as 12 but they are pretty solid riders for their age. Where she has REALLY impressed me has been out on the trails. From our first ride out she has been level headed and consistent. She is not spooky even with the dogs racing around. We have about 250 acres of trails here but we have also hauled her to Volga twice. She crossed bridges and multiple water crossings with no issues. She had to think a little about getting on the trailer the first time and has been a peach to load every time after that. She did dance around a little the first time when tied to the trailer but never pulled back or pawed at the trailer. The 2nd time out she loaded and hauled fabulously. The only misstep she's taken out on the trails was on the first off property ride when we came upon a sandy spot and her rider wasn't paying attention she tried to lay down. Once corrected she moved on and didn't try it again. Her owner said she's gotten along with everyone she's turned her out with. When I have a horse in for training they stay in a pen by themselves so I don't have first hand knowledge of how she is with a herd. She will stand tied with no pulling back but may paw a little if no one is paying attention to her. She is easy to saddle, sometimes she has to think about taking the bit for a minute but she is getting better every time. She handles baths well and definitely enjoys it on a hot day. Marigold is a super nice little mare that could really go any direction. She definitely seems to love trails but would be a super cute little dressage mare as well.
