Lainey has an amazing personality. She loves attention. If she sees you coming towards the pasture she starts heading your way. I she doesn't see you, all you have to do is call her name and she heads your way. We bought her out of an estate sale and she had no papers. We were told that she is a Rocky Mountain Horse and all aspects of her make us believe that is true. The vet put her at 5 years old at the time we purchased her. We were told that the grandkids of the deceased, trail rode the mare quite a bit. It didn't take much time after being around her watching her gait, the way she moved and her personality that my wife asked to ride her. She gaited her around the arena and through an obstacle course that was set up in the middle of the arena, then a couple mile trail ride up through a creek. She was perfect. The mare's glide ride, willingness to accept the obstacle course challenges and easy-going demeanor. It did not take long for her to decide that this little horse was a keeper. On our way home we stopped over in SD and rode for a couple of days. Since then, she has been on many overnight campouts/ trail rides. Great go where you point her trail horse. I always hesitate to rate a horse to a rider, but in this case, I think I would be safe in rating her from a novice to intermediate rider horse. She may be fine for a beginner with some supervision, although the grandkids who we were told rode her more than likely had no supervision. Her super smooth gait is natural so even a beginner gaited horse rider should not have a problem enjoying the gait. She is good for the farrier, loads easy and really has no bad habits other than pawing a little at the hitching post occasionally and likes to be cinched up slowly. Why are we selling her? My wife had the chance to buy back one of her favorite horses that I mistakenly sold out from under her a couple years ago. We only need two horses so unfortunately Lainey has to go. Although she would make a great pasture ornament, it would be a waste of a great trail horse that someone could really be enjoying.
