Twist is a 13.3½hh, 2014 Welsh x Arab (registered half-Welsh, eligible to be registered half-Arab) gelding looking for his next person. He is quirky and sensitive, and would be best suited for a professional or advanced rider that is ok with some spicy “go." Twist was an untouched stallion until the age of 7, at which point he changed owners, was halter broke, gelded, and sent off to be started - which didn’t happen. His current owner purchased him in 2022, with the hopes that he would make a pleasant dressage pony. He came to me in late Nov 2023 to finish being started and become more educated in all of the things. Although he is doing well in his training, he is a bit more horse than what his amateur owner was hoping for, so he is now looking for a new partner. All of the pieces are in there; the cheeky Welsh side, the smart and spicy Arab side, and the fairness demand of a stallion. He is a blast to ride and makes me laugh daily, and has become one of the favorites and part of the family. He can hack out alone (with some spiciness) or in a group, hops right in the trailer to go to the arena 3-4 days a week, has lived out with geldings and mares (we don’t think he ever covered any mares when he was intact), gets vacuumed to be groomed, has gotten quite good with his feet, and is easy to be around. Twist is definitely a relationship pony, and it takes him a while for him to trust that someone new will be kind and fair to him… once he knows you’re on his side then it’s game on. He is a very easy keeper and is currently barefoot with great feet. His dressage training is continuing to progress, and he is just getting started over small fences. Twist seems to prefer the jump ride to the dressage ride currently. Since he can be a lot of pony, we think he may excel in low- level eventing or jumpers, or dressage eventually. He is currently going WTC, with a decent understanding of basic lateral work. He requires someone who can be understanding, patient, and kind with all of his quirks and nuances, while still being able to ride and say, “hey buddy, I need you to try this thing.” He needs a rider that has good control over their seat, legs, and hands. He is not one that can be bullied, kicked/pulled “round”, or forced into the work. He can feel “bolty” when tense, so it's a balancing act of relaxation while still working towards the riding goals. A good match in a kind home is the priority for him. Highly motivated seller - ALL reasonable offers considered. It would be fantastic if he could find his human before the snow flies. If you think you might be a good match, come and try him and let’s work to make it work! Trying him out is highly recommended because he is such a special pony - priority will be given to people who come meet him. PPE welcome at buyer’s expense. Price will increase with training and experience.
