Where are my THICK Thoroughbred lovers? Clover is a 16.1hh, 14-year-old gelding with a wide ribcage that takes up leg beautifully. If you like your Thoroughbreds with substance, Clover is your guy. Please note, the pictures are recent, showing him with little muscle, so just imagine what he’ll look like when muscled up! 😍 Clover has had an easy life, lightly raced before retiring because, well, he’s SLOW. He spent many years as a lawn ornament for an older couple who simply enjoyed having horses around. He was lightly restarted a few times but was eventually turned back out to pasture due to personal conflicts. At this time, Clover is working on gaining muscle. He is currently walk, trot, and lightly reintroducing canter. We’re focused on getting him back in shape before asking more of him. Previously, Clover was WTC, doing quick simple changes, and started over small fences. Clover is more woah than go. He hacks out alone with no issues. Would make a nice walk trot lesson horse as he has a steady pace and goes around nicely on a loose rein. Recently, Clover has been officially restarted again, and despite the years off, he hasn’t taken a single wrong step. He’s calm, easygoing, and would be perfect for an amateur to bring along. At 14 years old, Clover is past his days of being an upper level jumper, hunter, barrel racer, or eventer. However, he’s low-maintenance and still has so much to give. Clover would excel in lower-level shows, trail riding, playdays, lessons, or just being a steady companion. He has the potential to make a wonderful lesson horse but would truly shine with a special person to bond with. Clover gives his all to the people he connects with. Now for the cons, there aren't many when it comes to Clover. He is a cribber, but is in controlled with a collar. He doesn’t mind the collar and we haven’t had any issues with rubs around the collar. Additionally, he can be a little stud like around mares. This has not been an issue, but wanted to be transparent. He just gets a little excited when he walks past the mares field. What the shipper who did a cross country trip with him said, “He unloaded with no issues. He's a really great horse. Sweet and polite. All is well.” “He unloaded with no issues. He's been super easy. All is well.” “As always, he's been easy and enjoying the ride. All is well.” “ He has loading down to a science. I don't have to do anything. He walks on, spins and backs up in his stall without me doing much of anything. He loves his treats. All is well.” If you’re looking for a reliable, low-key partner with lots of love to give, Clover might just be the one for you.
