Even as I post this I am not sure I want to. Scully is a SUPER fun mare and is very easy to have around. However I have a very small lesson program and I need my lesson horses to be extremely versatile. Scully is VERY good at her job but I think would do better in a program where she could focus on dressage. In my program I have a lot of very beginner students. With her motor and responsiveness to aids she doesn't make a good complete beginner horse. She also loves to trail ride but at her speed, even if that means going out alone. Most of our horses are the ploddy type and she doesn't like having to stop to wait for them. She has never done anything dangerous- just gets dancy and impatient. I was able to get in touch with a previous owner and even found an old sale ad from 2019. She is registered with AHS and I was able to obtain a picture of her papers but I do not have her papers in hand. She was previously trained to 3rd level dressage and shown to 1st level. Honestly Scully knows more about dressage than I do, so any skills she has might be a bit rusty. She is a phenomenal lesson horse and is very tolerant of different riders, she just prefers that they know how to control their legs. If my program was bigger and I was able to keep a horse just for the advanced beginners and up to do flat lessons I would not be selling her. When I first bought her Scully was a little tight/stiff in her hind end. After having her SI joint injected she has been much more comfortable. We also keep front shoes on her. She is currently on 2 lbs Tribute Senior Sport and 1 lb Nutrena Topline Balance twice per day. Scully is low in the pecking order. If turned out with a bully she will get beat up. Our horses are on turnout 24/7. They have full access to netted grass/alfalfa mix at all times. They go out on pasture from 7pm-8am. I was told she has been stalled in the past and was great but I have not stalled her. She has not been marish at all for us even when in heat. Her previous owner had a few babies out of her and said she was a great mom. She actually got her tail chewed off by one of her pasture mates babies before I bought her last spring, so its a little short. She was pasture mate to my mare & foal this year and loved to dote on him. Scully has impeccable ground manners. She is good for baths and to load and haul. She is fabulous for the vet and farrier. She has a current coggins but the age is wrong- it lists her at 16 as my vet was just going based on teeth before I found the old sale ad and obtained the copy of her registration papers. If I do not find the right match for Scully she will 100% stay with us. We adore her but I believe there is a job out there that she is more suited for. Price is negotiable.
