This very tall and still growing boy is about as handsome as the come. He has that sheen to his coat, nice confirmation, and presence to get attention anywhere. And he has the temperament of “Ferdinand the Bull.” He is easy going, he wants to please, he’s not-complicated, he takes things in stride, he isn’t overly reactive, he is brave and mellow. He’s a good boy, has never offered to buck, rear or misbehave. He takes things in stride and has a really good mind. W/T/C. Big stride, made to cover ground, but not jiggly and never “hot.” Great on trail. Brave and forward. Leads or follows. Crosses bridges and obstacles. Goes out alone or in groups. Doesn’t get competitive. He can also pony other horses or be ponied. Loves arena time too. Rides western, English, and bareback. Started in basic dressage. Soft mouth and happy in a snaffle. Backs, side pass, haunch turns, can open and close gates. Started over rails and enjoys jumping. Good scope. Due to his size, demeanor, athleticism and bravery, I think he would make a fabulous fox hunter or eventer. Stands tied, good for farrier (wears front shoes), easy to load and trailer, good for tacking up, grooming, bathing etc. loves attention and being handled. Nice manners. Very friendly with other horses-he is not a fighter! He gets along with everyone he’s been turned out with. Good in a stall, pasture, corral—whatever. UTD on care. Because of his extremely generous, kind and mellow personality, I could also see Leonard thriving in a therapy program. In general, due to his young age he is most appropriate for an intermediate rider on up but can handle beginners if they were in a lesson program.
