Calliope is the most trustworthy mare you’ll ever meet. She’s safe for everyone from your toddler, your city slicker friend, to your grandma. If you can hold and on steer you can ride her. She’s the kind of horse that makes you feel like you can do anything because you know you’ll be safe. Calliope has worn a lot of hats through out her life. She’s been a beginner lesson horse, a grand entry and parade horse for rodeo queens, done ranch pleasure, 4H, and been an older gentlemen’s trail horse.

Nothing phases her. Ride her next to a highway, the train, or any obstacle you can think of. If ever there was a horse I’d describe as bombproof, it’d be her! She crosses water easily. She will be the same horse no matter who’s on her or if she’s had 6 months off. You can hop on her bareback with a halter and take her for a ride down the road. She stands quietly for mounting from either side. She loads in the trailer, ties, baths, and stands saddling, bathing and clipping.

Many years ago Callie had a minor laminitis bout. Because of this when she’s on harder ground we put shoes or front shoes with pads (for rockier trail riding) on her. In softer footing she goes barefoot. We have kept her on pasture no problem since if she’s being ridden.

She is an obstacle course queen. She crosses, bridges, tarps, plastic bottles, tires, and carries a flag like an old pro. She’ll pick up a jog or lope when asked, but will happily walk at nice pace all day and neck reins with ease. A mare like this is worth her weight in gold for the safety and confidence she gives every rider.
