Great pony for a good riding kid on a budget. Please read the entire ad. She has so much good to offer, but does need a good riding kid at this time. The good: Thyme has been with us for several years and taught both my kids how to ride. She never, ever has spooked, and we have ridden everywhere, both in and out of the arena. Mountains, rivers, creeks, logs, bridges, hikers, bikers, dogs, etc., she’s not bothered by anything. She’s even participated in a cattle drive and acted like she’s done it her whole life. She’s also done some local shows and isn’t bothered by arena traffic, show sights and sounds, etc. She is a bit more go than whoa, but nothing crazy! Her ground manners are fantastic. My 5 year old can do everything with her from the ground. Lead, groom, pick up feet, load on the trailer. She dances a bit when you bath her, but my 5 year old can still handle her for that too. She has done many overnights away, and always behaved the same. Trailers out to parks and lessons without issue, and hasn’t ever batted an eye at the jumps. Plus, she has a pretty automatic lead change. She has been turned out with mares and geldings without issue, is good for the vet/farrier, has great feet, and UTD on everything. The bad: She has pulled a maneuver twice now where she drops a shoulder and crow hops, which easily launches my 5 year old. Her confidence and safety is too important for us to keep Thyme. That being said, she doesn’t even bother trying with more skilled riders and my daughter has had several successful rides outside of these two instances. She probably also needs her hocks done to be at her best for a rider asking more of her.
