"Gin" is a gorgeous 10 year old AQHA registered bay mare. I've owned her since early 2021 and during that time she's been shown walk/trot in the ranch riding (earning us a reserve walk/trot champion year-end award), trail ridden, and ranched on. She is extremely cowy and athletic and shows huge potential in the ranch riding discipline. Gin is excellent on the trails, rides out alone or with a group no problem. She is brave, crosses water and bridges without hesitation. On the ranch, she's moved cow/calf pairs and sorted. Previous to me owning her, she's been lightly ranch roped off of. She was started one-handed in the bridle in early 2023 by a trainer, but due to my lack of experience finishing horses she has mainly been ridden in an O-ring snaffle or loping hackamore. Gin has not had much consistency the last couple of years and would benefit from someone with more time to ride. She is ulcer-prone, so a home with plenty of turnout time or a multiple-meal per day feeding schedule would benefit her greatly. She requires a 2 degree aluminum wedge shoe in the front and consistent farrier work. She has had both coffin bone and hock injections this year; however, since changing farriers I'm not sure that this is maintenance she'll continue to need at this time. Full navicular set of X-rays taken in early summer of this year available (no navicular changes noted). She has a slight parrot-mouth that does not affect her in any way. In late 2023, she had a basic repro exam done and is breeding sound (5-panel N/N). She is up to date on shots, worming, farrier work, teeth, chiro and massage. PPE at buyer's expense welcome. She needs a calm, soft-handed, confident rider to excel. I have thrown my beginner husband on her several times with no issues; however, that does not mean she is a beginner's horse. She is cowbred and on the hot side, especially when ridden on the ranch. She has only been very lightly worked 1x per week on average for the last few months, so is not currently tuned up. I have plenty of old pictures and some videos undersaddle from 2023, but no videos more current than that. This is an extremely hard decision for me to post her for sale; however, I've come to the realization that she may be too much horse for me with how little I'm able to ride her. She would excel with an experienced rider who's able to take her to her full potential. Absolutely no gaming homes. May trade with cash on top for more finished, quiet Quarter Horse (gelding preferred).
