“Dollar” is a rare colored red dun roan that LOVES to be with his people! This gelding is sweet as can be, is always first to greet you at the gate and is a true partner. Some good AQHA foundation blood in his pedigree and also the great, Secretariat. While he did not inherit super speed, he DID inherit a lot of heart and grit! He will go all day with a happy expression and no complaints. He loves attention and will leave the herd to come see you and is always eager to go for a ride. He can sit for weeks and will be the same horse every time. Never hesitates leaving the barn or his herd mates, rides out alone fine and does not rush to get home. He has mainly been trail ridden and has been working on refinement in transitions and the lope in the arena. Knows how to bend, counter-bend and move all his body parts, w/t/l, etc. Pretty much an open book depending on which direction you’d like to go with him. Been ridden through the thickest brush and downed trees - will blaze through it all and patiently stop and stand still when asked with no fuss. Walks along with a nice level head. Goes through water, open and close gates off him, has had ropes thrown off him, dragged logs, taken over low jumps, been over bridges and obstacles, desensitized to tarps, ropes, cracking whips, balls, etc. He’s an easy keeper and is fine in a stall or turned out 24/7. LOVES attention and being groomed. Spray him, deworm him and clip him in the pasture without a halter. Yes- even his ears! He’s a very forgiving mellow fellow - nothing much bothers him and is not "goosey" about accidental rider errors. He has never offered to buck, bite, rear or kick. Always willing to try anything asked of him. He will pick you up at the mounting block and stand patiently for as long as you like. Stands tied nicely, will lead from a 4 wheeler or other equipment, loads/unloads and trailers fine. Has started some showmanship training. Been ponied on and has ponied others, never taken a lame step and has no vices. UTD on farrier, vaccines, neg. coggins and deworming and dental. Would be a fun horse for an intermediate to experienced youth or an adult who will give him attention he craves. With a few more wet saddle pads, Dollar will be that really hard to find family gelding! We have gone back and forth on listing him because he IS such a sweet natured boy, but each year that passes is another one that he just doesn’t get the attention he deserves, as we have others that require more consistent riding. Good loving home is a must!
