Conquistador ("Monty") is a 2011 Mahogany Bay National Show Horse (Arab/Saddlebred) gelding, standing at 15’1”. He has a beautiful, social personality and is curious and confident when presented with new challenges. His ground manners are impeccable and he stands quietly for farrier, vet, trailering, braiding, etc. His vaccinations, teeth and farrier trims are up-to-date. Behaves well in a herd but is also fine turned out alone. Has been exposed to cats, dogs, and a farm environment. Monty is happy hacking out solo or in a group. Soft mouth and willing off the leg, he is a comfortable and quiet mover with some lovely suspension available if asked for it. Three solid gaits in dressage with a foundation for more, just needs miles at this point. Currently goes well in a soft rubber Mullen mouth snaffle. Monty is extremely brave and absolutely thrives cross country. No issues with water, drops, ditches, or terrain. He has successfully competed Pretraining/EV 90 with loads of potential to climb the levels up to Prelim/EV 110 if not higher - I have schooled him over Prelim XC fences and combinations, all of which he completed beautifully. Very tidy and handy for showjumping, hates to take the rails down! Super scopey, has free jumped 1.30m+ (4 ft+) with height to spare, and has schooled up to 1.05-1.10m (3’6”) with a rider. Honest and eager, and quick to learn. He has been trailered off property numerous times for trail rides, lessons at various facilities, and multi night stays at several different venues for competitions and clinics. He has had dressage lessons, been in cross country clinics, and been exposed to as many “weird and spooky” things as possible during his training. He is quite responsive and very tuned in to his rider, and is best suited for someone with experience riding that type of horse. I have had a great time training this horse and I absolutely love him, but it’s time for him to start the next chapter in his life with a new partner looking to progress through the levels. While the timing isn’t right for me to take him to the upper levels, I am confident that his journey is just beginning and he and his new owner are going to make some fantastic memories together. Asking mid to low fives. PM me for more info and videos!
