Branded Paso Fino - 4J, but I don’t have papers. I believe this is for Perfiles Paso Finos out of South Florida. 14 to 14.1H Stout and SOUND 17 year old Gelding Negative Coggins, regular scheduled vet visits. Good for vet. Regular 6 week trim cycle. Excellent for farrier. Has front hoof boots. Comes right to you in the pasture. Trailers well now. Bathes, fly spray and even allows vacuuming his coat. Excellent trail horse. Goes through water, deadfall. Up or down anything. Trail blazer. Will lead or follow, but follows closely due to his quick walk. He is ridden every weekend. Many local (and not so local) trails have been tackled. Been to the lake, across narrow foot bridges, traffic, dogs etc. Typical Paso work ethic. Will go all day. He is quite fit! He gets compliments wherever we go, with his winter mahogany bay coat and dark dun stripe. He is almost a golden bay in summer. Now for what you should know: Due to his nature he needs a calm, patient, but firm handler. I wouldn’t put him with a first time horse owner. His response to something he doesn’t like or want….he tries to avoid it and get away (no, not bolting, just turn and leave whether it be on the ground or under saddle). So, just patience and consistency wins him over. Even if he is scared (though he is by no means spooky) he can be convinced to proceed. Never mean or aggressive. But he clearly was handled roughly in his former life. The people I got him from, simply didn’t know how to handle him. I’ve had him a year and he is a different horse…for the better! We have worked on just walking and knowing it’s okay to be calm! Unfortunately, because we mostly walk everywher (I ride with a Quarter Horse) he does not gait…unless he is hyped up which is unusual. I wonder if he may be a Trocha horse, (because I have ridden his gait. ) He will trot and canter as well. Only reason he is for sale is my bad back can not take the trotting! And I don’t know how to teach gait. An solid horse for someone seeking a trail partner.
