If you are looking for a quiet, good minded mare to ride now and breed later, take a look at Winnie. She has it all: looks, breeding, athletic ability, and training. Winnie is a 12 yr old mare, 15.1 hh and stout, beautifully built with a big hip and pretty head with a kind eye. She is AQHA registered as “Minute ta Winnit” #5484150 and extremely well bred, by an own son of Dash Ta Fame. Winnie is bred to run and is very athletic and quick footed with plenty of speed when you ask for it, but she is also extremely good minded and rides quietly, never getting hot or upset about anything. She is on consignment, and has been with her owner since she was a yearling. Winnie has never been injured, has no health or soundness issues, and has always had the best of care. She has never offered to buck (even when first started), rear, bite, kick or take off, and is very personable and friendly. Winnie has been ridden on tons of trails and ranches all over Texas, and has also been trained on barrels and played around with the poles. She had been turned out for close to 3.5 years when I first got her, due to her owned getting a new job and moving away, and she saddled up and rode off perfectly, as if she had never had any time off. Winnie is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problems, and isn’t spooky. She rides quietly on a loose rein, will never go any faster than you ask her to, and is content to lead or follow. She's very sure footed and will go up, over or through anything you point her at. She rides just as quietly away from home as she does at home, and isn’t bothered by the lights, sounds, or sights at indoor or outdoor arenas. Winnie has competed in a number of barrel races, but her last competition was around 4 years ago, so she will need a tune up before she is ready to compete again. But the training is all there. She has beautiful turns, no alley issues, and is very honest and safe. Winnie ran consistently in the 3D, but has the potential to do more if tuned up. Her full brother is a 1D barrel horse and has won a ton of money, outrunning some of the best horses in the country. Winnie has an excellent handle and stop, will work off your leg and get a gate, and is very light mouthed. She has a smooth trot and an amazing rocking horse lope, is good on both leads and will do lead changes. Winnie is not mareish and can be tied next to or hauled with other mares or geldings without an issue. She's very easy to catch in any size pasture, happy outside or in a barn, and has excellent ground manners. She's good for the shoer, loads and hauls well, and stands quietly tied. Winnie will ride out alone as well as with a group, will happily lead or follow and has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Can hold until Christmas! UTD on everything.
