For your consideration: Zen – 16hh Warlander Gelding (Friesian x Andalusian) Age: 9 Ever wanted to bring those childhood pony dreams to life—just on a slightly larger scale? Zen might be oversized, but the personality is all pony! Zen is on the lookout for his perfect match; someone with the patience of a saint, a good sense of humor, and a love for horses that might occasionally have you questioning your life choices (in the best way, of course). The Good Stuff: -Lovely mover, with a lot of presence -He’s quite educated under saddle, and although trying to get his fitness back, he’s pretty uncomplicated. - Adorably photogenic. He sticks his tongue out on command and is also learning to smile - Clicker training champ. He loves to interact and explore while learning new things - Very brave or confident under tack and in new environments, etc. The Quirks: - Zen has his own way of handling stress—think of it as a combination of nips and sassy head tosses. Mounting can require patience and is still a work in progress as he occasionally likes to move his hindquarters away. Nothing a little patience and kindness can’t handle! - His early life is a bit of a mystery, but let’s just say he’s gone from “socially awkward bottle baby” to “class clown with a tendency to forget boundaries.” Positive reinforcement has been key in his progress, but he still needs someone who knows when to hold firm and when to back off. -He’s overall just a bit insecure on the ground when it comes to working in hand, but this improves daily. He’s all love and play when you’re not asking him to do something he doesn’t yet understand. -Very in your pocket, sometimes too much so, but this is improving also. Additional info: - He has a minor conformation flaw (one dropped hind fetlock), but it hasn't caused any issues. X-rays on file. - Zen's bareback and halter rides have been solid. He’s more comfortable with someone on his back than on the ground when it comes to work. He’s ready for someone to build on the progress he’s made. If you’re searching for a horse that’s equal parts fun and challenging, Zen could be your guy. He’s a work in progress but, with the right person, has the potential to shine. Important Notes: - Zen is not suited for a beginner, intermediate, or timid rider at this time. - We’re looking for a patient, experienced home where he can continue to thrive. Come meet Zen in Oak Harbor, WA, and don’t forget to bring your sense of humor—and your zen-like calm! Serious inquiries only, please.
