Treasure is a beautiful AQHA 8 year old mare with excellent cow bred bloodlines going back to Colonel Freckles, Leo, Mr. San Peppy, Gay Bar King, Hollywood Gold, Doc Bar, Poco Bueno, and Mr. Gun Smoke. Treasure was started by a professional trainer with 90 days of training as a 2-year old. I purchased her at 2 ½ years and continued her professional training with natural horsemanship. She has been used as a mountain trail horse with extensive miles in the wilderness back country. She has seen all kinds of wildlife including bear, moose, grouse flying up in her face, deer, elk, and other animals including cattle, yak, geese, jack rabbits, coyotes, goats and more. She rides through anything: creeks, over rocks, through brush, and nothing phases her, and has moved cows in the mountains. She may look at things, but does not buck, bolt or kick. Treasure can be the leader or the follower. If the leader, she can walk out at a good pace and you can make some miles. She rides alone or with a small or large group. She does not just go on hour long rides; I have ridden her on long all day trail rides. On the trail, she has seen numerous backpackers, families with kids and dogs, runners, bicycles, atvs and motorcycles, and she is fine with all of it. I always take my dog riding with me so she is well used to dogs. At home, she can leave the herd and ride out alone with no funny business. She stands still to saddle, mount and dismount, and ground ties as well. She is excellent at groundwork on line or at liberty. She has been ridden by teenagers, and has had small children ride her on lead line. Although she is well broke, I would recommend at least an experienced beginner to intermediate rider for her. She is very intelligent and savvy. She has good conformation and a soft, kind eye. She would make an excellent broodmare if that is what you are looking for. If not, she has been around cattle and would make a great cow horse. Other possibilities would be a barrel horse, 4H horse or an endurance horse. She has more go than whoa. She loads right in a trailer and backs out. She stands quietly for the farrier and picks up her feet for you. She has good strong hooves and is in shoes from spring to fall and barefoot in the winter. She is fed grass hay and is on natural herbal supplements just for her wellbeing. She loves being on pasture or a large open area where she can run and play. I keep my horses trained and use them frequently, even in winter. I am looking for a good home for her where she will be used and well taken care of.
