Gambler is a 13 year old grade Quarter Horse gelding. He is a sooty buckskin and is around 14.3 hands. I bought Gambler last fall at a sale mostly because I felt sorry for him. He was extremely underweight and was ridden through the sale. He spent the first few months with us just gaining weight. Once he got up to a decent weight we started riding him. He has more of a motor than we thought he would! When he was underweight he seemed like a sleepy little plodder but once he had some meat on his bones he also gained some energy! He has never been nasty but likes to walk out and wants to be going somewhere. We have walk, trot, cantered him in the arena without issues. He is working on standing still at the mounting block but right now tends to walk off as you mount. He seems like he would be a great 4H games mount that can also double as a trail horse. The only time we have had him be at all 'naughty' was when a student (12) was riding him bareback. She got a little off balance and he crow hopped/scooted out from under her. He didn't seem like he was trying to be nasty- just seemed a little confused about bareback. He is super easy to have around. Gambler has gotten along with everyone we've put him in with except our 4 yr old draft gelding that tried to play way too hard. Gambler is lower on the totem pole and the big guy was just too aggressive. Gambler is easy to catch, will stand tied all day and is easy to groom/saddle/bridle. He is easy to load/haul/unload. His only bad habit is moving away from the mounting block when you are mounting. We've been working on it but with the weather we haven't been able to be very consistent. He is not spooky on trails but is a little looky. He likes to sightsee but we haven't found anything that scares him. He is up to date on all cares including vaccines, dental, farrier and dewormer. He was a little soft up front when the ground first froze but no other issues. Please contact me for more information, pictures and videos.
