Regretfully offered for sale: “Percy” a 13 year old Oldenburg gelding. His Oldenburg name is Percival and he showed USEA under Jalapeño Hippo. Standing 15.3 with a solid build, Percy will win you over as soon as you throw a leg over the saddle. He is a beautiful mover, and a classy bay boy. He has a fun and goofy personality on the ground and is a rewarding, athletic ride.

Percy has experience to Novice level eventing and then took an adult amateur around intro, he won Area Champion in 2019. With springs on his feet, he could easily go into straight dressage, he’s a super mover and is light in the bridle, he has easy lateral movements and a correct way of going. He could play this summer at first and second level dressage and eventually get your Bronze on him! His jump is round and expressive, and he has previously jumped well beyond 3’. He could also go into the stirrups and be a fun lower level hunter or eq horse. Percy could do pretty much any discipline your heart desires and he cannot wait to find his next person. He is simple to ride without being boring. Definitely more of a kick ride, but can get going. He does all the fun things; bareback, trail rides, costumes etc.

Percy is a little too sharp and athletic for a pure beginner. An intermediate teenager or adult amateur would have a blast with him, and he does best with a strong weekly program. His perfect rider doesn’t mind some silly antics, likes a soft mouth and enjoys a personable horse.

He prefers an outdoor pen and can use a lunge after a few days off, but otherwise is as easy as they come. No vices, no special shoes, no colic, hardy and easy keeper. Clipping, mane pulling, bathing and hauling are all easy, anyone can handle him. He does well in group turnout.

He did have a soft tissue strain last year and was given a year off to rehab. He has been treated to vet’s exact recommendations. He has been rehabing slowly and correctly in a program, and has now been back to work with no problems. Happy to connect with vets and will send vets statement about injury. No restrictions required, yearly injection for maintenance and this is reflected in his price. Percy is an absolute gem, head turner and is not expected to last at this price.
