His pedigree includes old style cow horse breeding who are tried and true ranch and pleasure horses. He was raised by a friend of ours who had him started professionally but very correctly and slowly. He had 30 days training as a 2 year old, 30 days training as a 3 year old and 60 days as a 4 year old and then was used on the very technical and challenging trails of the Snake River Country in Idaho. We continued his training here at our ranch and on the trails in Central Oregon last summer, fall and this winter and he is nicely broke in the arena. He knows all the basics and goes well in a bridle with a one hand neck rein. Buster knows his leads, walks, jogs, trots and lopes great circles, although he is most happy just walking along the trail. He has a decent turn around, sidepasses nicely both directions and has a good back up. He is safe with dogs on the trail and is a medium speed walker. He will cross bridges, water and downed trees carefully. He wears saddle bags without issues. He is fine with trailing cows and with swinging a rope although he has not been used to rope live cattle yet. Buster is a sweet gelding who looks forward to getting daily attention and has excellent ground manners. He will stand tied and does not pull back. He has never offered any bad behavior or any serious resistance to training. He gets along with everything we have ever put him in with and also is quiet in a stall by himself. He is easy to shoe and loads and hauls fine. He is easy to deworm and vaccinate and has had regular hoof and health care his entire life. This gelding has been taken care of properly and it shows. He is big and beautiful and is a perfect shade of dapply buckskin. Buster carries one copy of the PSSM gene but has never had an episode on low sugar feed (Alfalfa and/or Timothy grass or Bluegrass) and daily turnout, even when in a full time training regime. He has no blemishes or scars and has a current negative Coggins. We are happy to show him via video call or in person here at our ranch in Oregon. Inquire about help with transportation, we may be able to provide transport and have several reasonably priced and reliable shippers we can refer you to.
