Ancalagon the Black VX
This amazing GVHS and GHRA gelding standing 15h and is a 2016 model, located in Kiowa CO.
He is a talented gelding in a beautiful package. Strong, gritty and a heck of a partner versatile in many different directions.
In 2024, he had a great year fully of experiences. He competed successfully at the Colorado Gypsy Fest, landing himself in the Halter Overall with both and amateur and Open handler. He went on to win 4th in the Nation at GVHS Championships. Beyond halter he showed successful with a ln amateur in trail, ranch and western classes, as well as unanimously willing the Open WJL Ranch Class at CO Gypsy Fest. He continued on to win the GVHS National Grand Championship in WJL Open Ranch Riding and National Reserve Champion in WJL Open Trail. He also placed in the top 10 in the Nation in Dressage suitability, English and Western Pleasure.
Beyond the show pen he spent some time in the Mountains of Colorado leading a pack string at Elk Camp as well as gathering cattle and even found himself on the head side in the Branding Pen on Christmas Day for the VX Branding. He has also helped in our lesson and therapy program.
He is a strong and confident horse who loves the work and excels in a program. He has all the pieces, head/shoulders in and out/haunches, bending and counter bending, can pick up correct leads from a halt, a nice soft back. I love him in dressage because I feel he is talented and can be really soft and enjoyable!
He’s been ridden English, western and bareback, and will take anything you throw at him in stride.
We have used him under supervision with beginner types in lessons, and he is smart and will hold them accountable to correct use of aids, or will prefer a nap. I do not consider him. A kick ride, but he will hold the rider accountable to get out of park ;) and if you can ride you will LOVE him!
We had planned to keep him in the 2025 show string and go for his legion of honor as he is well on his way, but will also consider parting with him for the right home. An option to keep him in training and on our show string is available as well as a lesson and training package.
