“The Slap” (Barn name Phoenix) Named after the Oscars Performance after his sire OTTB gelding Jockey Club Registered Born March 2, 2020 16h Bay Napa, CA Sweetest big dark eyes you’ll ever see! He absolutely loves attention and waits eagerly at the gate. Phoenix is an absolute joy to handle. Calm and cool, he doesn’t spook at gusts of wind or unexpected noises. Paintball shots and yelling doesn’t even faze him. I’ve walked along with him kicking a ball, and he remained unfazed. Phoenix loves water, whether it’s playing in it, taking baths, or being groomed. He’s equally comfortable being tied or loose in his paddock while being groomed and fussed over. He’s used to cross-tying, lunging, and is good for hoof care or body clipping, and trailers easy, making him a dream to care for. Since January 4, 2024 Phoenix has been with the Horse Rescue at the Grove, arriving from Golden Gate Fields (GGF) to rehabilitate from a tendon injury. We immediately started him on OsteoMax, which, combined with daily hand walking and rest, helped to heal the injury. Vets cleared him for training. Phoenix has had lots of TLC, chiro and bodywork too. I’m happy to share all records. Phoenix is in professional training for ground work and trail rides. He’s calm, curious, confident which helps his rider feel safe. He is athletic, forward minded, and needs someone to give him the best life possible! Medical records available, and PPE welcomed at buyers expense. We will be careful about where he goes, as he’s special, and we’d like to stay in touch. Please PM Antonella Mattauch for more information.
