Considering selling our 18 year old barrel horse. He is a registered Red Roan quarter horse. Foaled on 5/3/2006. Looking to see him go to the right person. My daughter is going off to college soon and we are starting to think about what is best for her barrel horse, Luke. We have had him since 2019, when my daughter was 13 years old. He has been consistently clean on barrels. Our daughter has won a handful of buckles and some nice money on him over the last few years. He consistently places 3D in open and 2D youth. Luke also knows how to do poles. Great with our farrier and our vet. He does require someone that is a more intermediate/experienced rider, as he can get spooked more easily, especially by tractors, and has some gate issues (most likely due to our daughter being nervous), but once in the gate he knows his job and still has a lot left in him. He is happiest when around other horses and does well having a buddy horse, especially on trail rides. When worked weekly, he is more relaxed and willing to do what you ask. Trailers good and jumps right into our trailer. In 2020, our vet, due to his more stiff gait said he has fibrotic myopathy, but that has not slowed him down and does not require any additional treatment. Tends to loosen up when worked regularly. We currently feed him timothy with alfalfa pellets. Luke prefers alfalfa, but have him on the timothy hay due to the dietary needs of our other horse. Due to some of his vices we are considering giving him to the right person for around $3000. Price includes some of his tack, saddle pad, and 8 panels of Carri-lite portable corral panels ($800 new).
