I’m currently looking to find a retirement home for Basil. Basil is an 18-year-old paint gelding cross. While he is still young, Basil has made it pretty clear he’s ready for the easy life. He’s got plenty of spunk left but would be best suited to a non-riding or light riding home. He had an issue in his hind right leg that never fully resolved, so he is walk-trot only. He has not had experience trail riding and can be spooky in new situations. However, with a confident rider, he is usually able to be brought back around. Basil did founder about three years ago. He has a clean bill of health now but must be kept in a dry lot to reduce the risk of foundering again. He has some maintenance needs. Basil is not suitable for a child or a beginner. While he is not malicious, he does have a big personality and can be pushy with timid people. He can also be spooky, so he is best suited for confident equestrians. Basil would make an ideal companion horse or horse for someone looking to do ground work and liberty work.
